Modernica began hand building modernist furniture in a studio in downtown Los Angeles 20 years ago, and continues to do so in their state of the art facility just blocks from where they began. From the beginning, Modernica has built their reputation on a high standard of quality and craftsmanship. Their product line includes the classic George Nelson Bubble Lamps, one of the top lines of modernist lighting in the world.The first Bubble lamp was designed by George Nelson in 1947, produced by Howard Miller starting in 1952 and ceased production in 1979. In 1998, Modernica acquired the original Howard Miller tooling and became the exclusive authorized manufacturer of George Nelson Bubble lamps. The Bubble lamp is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
